The Radical Republicans were going crazy at this time... Not only had they passed the Tenure of Office Act but they also passed a law transferring the control of the military to Congress... They were in essence trying to create a Congressional Dictatorship... People neglect to mention that even though Johnson was pretty radical, that he had nothing on the Radical Republicans of this time... They passed laws to fit their unhealthy agenda, not laws that would promote the welfare of the U.S.

This video shows the complete misunderstanding of what is impeachment. According to the US Constitution Sec 2 clause 5, "The House of Representatives shall have the sole Power of Impeachment."
It also states in Sec 3 clause 6: "The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. And no person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of 2/3 of the Members Present." President Andrew Johnson was Impeached by the US House of Representatives; he just wasn't convicted by the US Senate.
