April 2009. A friend trying to close my HG 200 gripper...with 2 hands, overacting and pretending not to make it.
Using the more reliable Captains of Crush grippers as points of reference for poundage, HG200 weighs normally between CoC #1 (140lbs) and 1,5 (167,5 lbs). I then left my HG200 to someone over there but until then my HG200 felt closer to the 1,5 when near shut. I'd say between 155 and 160lbs (even though some lists claim it's lighter than that). Maybe the narrower spread makes it feel lighter in the sweep. But even if 155 to 160 pounds heavy, that makes it close to the new CoC 1 version (152 lbs I read), so yes I'd say it's sensible to see H200 as half way between CoC 1 and CoC 1,5, as long as not too worn out (it then becomes quickly lighter than CoC1 too).
This clip wasn't meant for uploading, but watching it I was really ROFL about the pose, yell and the rest, so I thought worth it. He plays well the clowning part... . A whistle on background, a night watchman warning sounding like some freaky animal, is a clue about where this was.
We shot a clip of myself closing it left hand (my right still injured), but we didn't even try to show the poundage (it was just for fun), not so easy in poor light anyway. CoC grippers have it carved more visible on the ends, better also for this purpose. The close wasn't clear either (fingers hiding contact) and was sloppy, after a long day attending a wedding cerimony and some drinks: I managed only one rep, could do maybe one more but did not have mind and stamina to even try. Left hand I used to normally rep it 4 up to 7 times on a good day with no set (10+ times with some set), so I felt it not worth uploading. Moreover, even though it's certainly a heavy tool for the average or untrained guy, to people into grip training HG200 has to be repped easily for at least 10 TNS reps to deserve shows.
