@eriquerique The problem is capitalism.
-
one thing crossed my mind when one of the participants said "life is full of hardship yet they seem cheerful and they somehow seem to manage." : The more one have, the more they want. Ignorance may be a bliss. I might sound cruel but this is the truth.
-
@eriquerique I agree with you on that. The infrastructure projects needs to improve; particularly in the education system. Education, education, education! Improving the quality of education improves the quality of the country!
-
Well, I think that was a little ignorant/arrogant for that tourist to walk around the grinding dirt poor slums with a big fancy camera hanging around his neck.
-
@aksirats for me its different coz 1710dl started blaming us on nothing. This is not the first time. Im not being defensive and if I seem to be defensive thats probably coz I have nothing against u. I really do. and probably ur right. maybe i was consumed by anger coz they've done lots of thing like burning our flag n shit and maybe i couldnt stand it and become something that i never wanted to be. thanx for the wake up call. will strive to do better.

@ushahnaq you fought fire with fire and now you're being defensive over someone calling you out for being a hypocrite.
-
i SPECIFICALLY said I don`t agree with what 1710dl said, but what you said was in NO way any better or more `mature`. If you can react that way to him/her calling you lazy, I am completely justified in reacting to you calling Indonesians "stupid" and insinuating that Indonesians are always trying to pick a fight about Malaysia. I could say the same about Malaysians based on what you said, can't I? What you said was hypocritical, not to mention JUST as childish and ignorant as what 1710dl said
-
@ushahnaq "Typical Indonesian always trying to pick a fight with Malaysia". "But I guess in Indonesia it is not possible for now since there are lots of stupid people like you"
Your own words.
-
@aksirats and did u know what Malon means? let just say that its a bad word. And in 1710dl comment he stated MALASia, instead of our country real name which is Malaysia. Did u know MALAS means lazy? Now do you understand how he/she needs to grow up? and may i know why youre overeacting?
Poverty is complicated. We simply cannot throw cash at poor people and hope that they are rid of their poverty. The real issue to tackle is the corrupt welfare and education system in Indonesia!! So I think this tour is mostly pointless. If anything, I feel sorry for the slum inhabitants, being treated like objects and photographed like that. Also, what's with tourists saying that this is "REAL" Jakarta? Nonsense! Only 10 - 20% of Jakarta is slum, 80 - 90% are AT LEAST lower-middle class!

As an American who has visited Jakarta twice, I am proud to say these are good and decent people, and I love you Indonesians.
Good idea for tours.Anything that helps is a benefit to them.
