Stimulus: Mission Accomplished?

While the new jobs report shows that the economy is still losing close to half a million jobs each month, there are undeniable facts showing that, in states where stimulus money has begun to flow, jobs are being saved and created. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire takes on Stuart Varney (sitting in for Neil Cavuto,) who says that the stimulus has been an utter failure.

What I saw was a man being interviewed shoveling bs and a host calling him on it. Bush unemployment 4.5% with 200,000 job increase while we are to say horay that we lost only 400,000 jobs? BTW the jobs beiong created are shortlived stats because once the money is used, the jobs are not sustained meaning people lose their jobs unless the fed pump more money! LET'S GET REAL PEOPLE!

How do you know the stimulus plan is working? If it's working, then why did GM & Chrylser go bakrupt? They went bankrupt because they were failing businesses that should have gone long ago. And you act like everyone who worked in those failing companies couldn't get a job somewhere else. In business (as in the rest of life) from death comes life. Other, healthy companies would replace those dead and dying ones if they are allowed to. We need to go through some short-term pain for long-term gain.

Ironically, what's holding Obama back is his apparent need to be "bi-partisan" and liked by all sides. He let his stimulus deal get watered down by a Republican congress that opposed him anyway.

Obama needs to understand the right wing hates him anyway, no matter how moderate he tries to be. "Talk to the hand" would be my approach. It worked for Bush.

AIG - 116,000 employees

General Motors - 243,000 employees

Bank of America - 243,000 employees

Citigroup - 326,900 employees
