Our Hand Crew was dispatched to the Ashley National Forest. After the fire was contained we were given a new mission: clear out the forest, cut dead and down 120 feet in from the road. It was a lot of work, but a lot more fun.

  • Lol! I would like to see what your attitude is like after using a hand saw for a day. We tried it once... and only once.

  • Good thing there is a higher use of pros now.

  • Greatest job I ever had. The Alberta Forest Service, paid for university, fighting forest fires all over Alberta, Ontario and B.C.

  • Falling was the best part of the job. I was a C sawyer with the USFS.

  • A hand saw is what you use for cutting boards, If you want to cut a tree down you use a big Bow saw or a crosscut also known as a "misery whip". I would rather use a Husky or Stihl and not work myself into the ground though.

  • J-Wade is the balls.
