Pickard has the answer, to self improve and increase your knowledge, and help the civilization go on. I would adopt the Pickard's opinion. this IS real science.

the black hole spews material out, which causes a wake, similar to a wake in the water caused by a boat. this wake drags the cool gas along, stretching it out into these filaments as it surfs the wake into space.

I think there is a distinction between purpose and meaning. I agree with you that purpose does not mean to understand that which happens automatically. I neither believe cells nor stars understand their life cycles. Likewise, humans don't have to understand the mating process in order to reproduce.

Truth, love, art, and music provide meaning because they help us understand our place in the world. I agree that love is important but you can't love long without food, water, and shelter.

Purpose does not mean to understand that which happens automatically, if it did then any feature of existence that happened without our complete knowledge would be the purpose; eating sleeping mating or defending. Howevery these things are secondary, at least to one with some grey matter, and do not constitute the pupose of life. If you examine yourse4lf you will find that "love" is the only thing actually craved for by every living being. One would not be wrong in assuming that love is the goal

When you engage in sexlife, do you know everything that is going on; how your body manufactures semen and how the eggs are held in the body of the woman, how they combine into an emulsion and the cells seperate and multiply, the emulshion forms into a plum, the plum developes 9 holes etc etc. Do you go to have sex and programme everything to happen?? or does it happen automatically???

If that is your philosophy then the purpose of life is also to breath or eat..
