  • The andante sostenuto in this sonata give me chills every time. From the disarmingly beautiful opening chords building to the massive climax starting at 3:03 and then quieting back down to a very emotional chord progression before starting the fugue. Easily one of my favorite passages in the entire piano repertoire!

  • There better be a statue of this guy somewhere.

  • @:30 :-)

  • such grace

  • what a funny discussion, i think the way the sonata is composed it make not so much sense to talk about movements and I think it is not so important.

  • great, enjoyed very much, thanks!

  • The 'Dante Sonata' is not a sonata at all, but rather a fantasia - it's really a fairly free rhapsodic piece, but it has a certain ternary structure.

  • This sonata does have four movements to it. They are all meant to run into the next movement and shouldn't stand alone, but there are still four movement to this piece.

  • Yes, sonata's have movements in them, but Liszt's is a 1 movement Sonata. The same goes for his Dante Sonata.
