Saw Russel Oberlin on the ARTS channel tonight singing and quickly did a search on him. What a joy to find this performance with Gould in less than a minute of hearing him sing for the first time.

@GabriKnight The pose he is in is recommended for all Classical singers if they are performing off book, rather than from memory.
It allows the diaphragm to do its proper job to support the singer's breathing so that he can sing properly. Most singers don't extend their arms quite as far or more likely they depend on a music stand to hold the music. He may also have been farsighted.
