His stats may not be great, but I still (much to the disagreement of a lot of my mates) believe Michael Vaughan is one of the best cricketers this country has ever produced. His captaincy was brilliant and let's not even mention his cover drive - superb!

Micheal Vaughan has always been my fav batsman as afar as i know cricket
.He lift ashes in 2005 which was a tough challenge but he did with few englishmen. And it is always good to watch when we see any match of his time.

Along with Fleming, Vaughan was one of the best captains of the modern era. Not simply that but, as others have said, when on song his batting was utterly sublime, a joy to watch. A shame his career tailed-off the way it did. I remember being on holiday in Scotland when the news of his retirement from test cricket was announced, we held a Michael Vaughan Beach Cricket Testimonial Match that very day on the beaches at Sanna Bay. The game was drawn due to the substandard conditions of the wicket.
captaincy is an easy game when your answer to everything is 'throw the ball to mcgrath/warne'.
