I started 11 years ago collecting fossils in the Bakersfield areas of Pyramid Hill, Sharktooth hill, and Ant Hill.

  • I have a legal pre-ban 25 year old great white tooth. :) Your teeth look lovely! Are they all fossils?

I have a megalodon tooth as well, it's in a very nice condition, grey-ish/black. :) It's up for trade, actually.

  • @OtherkinRaz They are all fossils except one (the white one) which was given too me by a commercial fisherman friend.

  • did you shine them up to look better?, because that can decrease the value.

  • @xhunter628x I use a poly verathaine spray which protects the fossils from degenerating. You also can use white glue with water to get the same results. They do not hurt the fossil or decrease the value and actually keep the fossil in better shape than if nothing was added. Both of these additions can be easily removed if wanted and the fossil will be returned to how it was first found. The teeth usually lose their original color when first found so adding the sealer just keeps that nice color.

  • Can anyone go collecting there? I live in Santa Barbara and there isn't much of anything around here. I love stones and fossils. They are my passion. I just wish I had a place around here to hunt. Anyways I would be more then willing to take a trip. Haha love your collection. It is awsome!!!!

  • @scarekr0w1 Yes anyone can go there. Try one of the museum digs for the best results for shark teeth and fossils, and try Ant hill, sheep hill areas also. For the S.B. area try the beaches north of you at low tide for agates and petrified whale bone. Also check shale outcrops for fish fossils and the like. Jalama beach is very good also. Winter after a storm is the best but you will find some now also. Good luck. Big Eagle

  • @NightRavenz78 Actually most of my finds are from the Ant hill and sheep hill areas. Secondly from Pyramid hill, and sharktooth hill via the museum . I find the most colorful teeth/fossils have come from the Ant hill/ sheep hill areas. The best and easiest digging is through the museum pay digs which they are having this weekend. I would say 4/5 of my collection is from Ant Hill from about 12 years to present. Good luck!

  • Awesome... You find anything from Ant Hill? We were just up there this past weekend...finding teeth...

  • @wolfeh103 All of the items in the display case were found by me. The Megs all come from Bakersfield Ant hill area. All told about 12 years of digging. Keep looking you will find a big one with time. Good luck!!!!
