A male African Desert tortoise named Ciyalana (which means "trickster" in an African language) that we are fostering at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. He is about 11 years old. He was found in East River Park, NYC and given haven by the Lower East Side Ecology Center. Two years ago, his shell was damaged, sadly, by some children who jumped a fence in his primary home and smashed him with a brick - but the community rose up to get him reconstructive surgery. He is a special little guy, adjusting to life on the farm. More info to come (film by rebecca. a bit of helpful camera work by jenny. special appearance by Soze the goat who is especially curious about this turtle. music by thelonious, of course! "Pannonica" is the name of the music piece.) Please visit www.woodstocksanctuary.org for more information.
