By Charlotte Kinard www.yourspanishexperience.com Being able to travel and stay in Salamanca, Spain has been an absolute gift. Traveling to such a beautiful, exciting, and interesting city has made me a much more independent, curious and worldly person. When first arriving in the bus full of fellow students, the unique atmosphere and structures struck me. After meeting my wonderful house mother and seeing Colegio Delibes, I felt immediately at ease, and I was ready to learn. I think that having a mixture of students from different countries from all around the world come together in a classroom to learn one language is a great way for the students to better understand different cultures then their own. My two teachers had me excited to come to class each day, and encouraged me to not be embarrassed or ashamed if I did not know how to pronouce a word correctly or how to conjugate a verb. As we traveled around Spain and into Portugual, I learned so much about its history which made my appreciate the language even more then before. Over the past three weeks, I have become accustomed to the Spanish culture. Due to the culture change, I will miss the siesta each day along with the large, intimate meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In America, it seems that everything is "go! go! go!" always moving, while in Spain, people take tend to be more leisurely when doing their day to day routines. Seeing as lunch starts at two in the afternoon, and dinner at nine, the Spaniards tend to start their evenings out closer to midnight, while in the USA, everyone tends to head back home at around midnight. However, being able to take a dip into Spain´s culture for three weeks was amazing, and in some ways I will miss it when I return to Boston. Being able to live in Spain instead of "stoping by" for a day was incredibly and unlike any other experience or trip that I have taken. Living with a typical Spainard woman allowed me to study a day as if I were a Spainard woman myself. Now that my Spanish experience is coming to a close, I definately hope to return to Spain on my own or with my friends and continue my participation in Spanish culture. Also, if I were to come back to this amazing city with my family, I would feel comfortable enough to show them around Salamanca with the knowledge that I have learned/gained in these past three weeks.

Es dificil integrase a una sociedad tan fundamentalmente desagradable y hasta repulsiva (esa es mi opinion), ahora... por favor... dejame tranquilo. No tenemos nada mas que discutir.
