Schlopenheimer the Albino Hedgehog Gets a Bath

Schlopenheimer (slop-en-hi'-mer)...Well I think he pee'd in his hedgehog bag while he slept in it..they both smelled might bad, so it was bath time for the bag and the hedgepig!
He is being bathed in luke warm water, that has vitamin E oil and oatmeal in it to keep his skin from drying out...He's been quilling so he's been having some issues with dry skin. He is about 5-6 months old, and as you can see he loves to swim!
I turned a bowl upside down in the sink so he can crawl on top of it and rest if he needs too, and of course closely monitored him..Usually we do baths in the bathtub, leaving a shallow end that's dry and an upturned plate in the deep end..and he is closely monitored during that too. This was a quick scrub down and wash off cause Schlopenheimer was just to smelly for words, and it is a little cold in Houston right now.

Hedgehogs can be bought through exotic pet stores, breeders, or rescue groups. Like all exotic pets you need to do a great deal of research to make sure you know EXACTLY what you are buying. Hedgehogs are super cute, but they are still very close to wild animals, and extremely shy. My hedgehog likes me as much as he's going to like any person, but he still spikes me and would prefer hanging out in his cage to spending time with me. For cuddles and endless love buy a cat or a dog or a rat.

Sense Schlopenheimer is an albino he does dislike light more than most hedgehogs and is prone to more dry skin. Schlopenheimer was going to be named Schopenhauer after a famous German philosopher that wrote about the "hedgehogs ilemma", but my boyfriend couldn't ever say Schopenhauer right... and accidentally said Schlopenheimer, so the name stuck. Sometimes he's called Sloppy for short.

Why can't you cuddle with hedgehogs I keep seeing people say it and I don't know why because I want one and I want to hug it and stuff

@RAYYAR518 They aren't social animals and will never particularly want your company. Even the nicest, best trained hedgehog is "grumpy" all the time. Mine will sleep on me, because i'm warm, and convenient (if i have a blanket in my lap), but he'll run away from me in favor of something where I am not. You need to read about these animals a big more before you get one, because if you want something that's friendly and hug-able, this might not be the pet for you.

it's kinda like having a small grumpy cat. He's a lot easier than Guinea Pigs, but he does NOT want to snuggle like they would sometimes. Frankly I won't have another kind of small pet, but please do a lot of research and make sure you really want one before getting one.

@fabygoo It's an Oatmeal bath to help with dry skin and quilling (he's about 8 months old in this video).

Most hedgehog's don't see very well, they mostly use hearing and smell to guide them. They also don't see as well in bright light environments, as they are diurnal like cats are. That said he would see more poorly than usual being that he is an albino, but he can still see movement at least. So not blind, just, not very good eyesight naturaly.

omg cute edgehog!! 2 bad u cant snuggle them... Albinos are my favs! and lol if u press replay at the end its really wierd cuz it shous ur hand and the start is him in a bath so its like u put him in the bath! lol sorry for the long comment
