Economist Robert Johnson, columnist Arianna Huffington, and filmmaker Eugene Jarecki, among others, have come up with a new proposal that would allow ordinary people in this country to channel their anger over the Wall Street bailout while also helping invigorate community banking. We speak with Rob Johnson about Move Your Money.

  • I opened an account at my local credit union -- deposits insured to $250K -- yesterday. Over the next couple of months, I will be moving all of my assets there. Activism!

  • Credit Unions are not members of the Federal Reserve. Community banks are members. So move your money to credit unions - not community banks. And join the movement to End The Fed. The movie 'It's A Wonderful Life' is a propaganda movie to make people think that small community banks are independent. Don't get your banking savvy from Hollywood. Watch The Money Masters on google video for the truth on banking and the moneychangers.

  • THIS is resistance, wise resistant.

  • Yes move your money to non-profit banks (Credit Unions or Local Community) where you are customer & shareholder so no profit is taken @Activist

  • @davidwparker

Same here. I believe if many of us did this, it would seriously affect the large banks.

  • I JUST CLOSED MY ACCOUNT WITH BANK OF AMERICA... granted I BARELY HAD $50 bucks on my account.. BUT money is money if EVERYONE OF US did the same THOSE GREEDY BASTARDS would take notice...

  • It doesn't matter where you put your money. If you have insured deposits. Who insures those deposits? The Fed. Credit Unions and local community banks will have the same amount of volatility. If Bernanke/Obama call for a bank holiday you will not be able to get your money. And by the way who has ever gone into a Goldman Sachs to make a deposit. Some of these so called big banks are no such thing. They are Investment and Brokerage firms. Try opening an account for $25 at Goldman Sachs
