What you call goofiness I call a more vivid imagination than you obviously have. The aliens of Trek are intentionally designed to be significantly different from one another so as to indicate the universe's diversity. Look up the Star Trek: Odyssey trailer...next you'll be telling me the Archein look like Avatars, when in fact Odyssey started 2 years before the Avatar film was even conceived.
Agreed, so instead of complaining about that particular alien's appearance, why don't you just watch Helena Chronicles the same way we've watched all the previous Trek incarnations - by using our own imaginations a bit.
Hahaha, Neelix looks so much better than she. This is like a throwback to TOS days of technicolor aliens. And maybe she would, but that would never happen since the Trekverse isn't real. Real aliens, if they exist, will almost certainly look nothing like Star Trek's colored facepaint and plastic forehead aliens.
Some would have probably said that about Voyager's Neelix. But from a Trek universe point of view, whatever species the red alien is probably would say the same thing you just did if she saw you.
Watch the series! They have a website where you can download the episodes....she's kind of the head honcho of the black market for equipment, supplies, and information within the Federation. The Helena crew does a deal with her in the 1st season I think that ends on a sour note...
A awesome series indeed! Bless you Mr. Caves, for bringing us more of the TruTrek we miss so much. I think of these series though not as competition for VOY and DS9, but rather a compliment, as they are in Trek tradition "the continuing voyages" of the Trek universe.
I agree, I feel like if the production crew of DS9 and Voyager (Rick Berman, Michael Piller, and Jeri Taylor) had went to do more Star Trek Series, this is what it would have looked like. I love watchin all of the series starting with Hidden Frontier...they all as Rancie says, feels like a TRUE offshoot from the ST roots...new backplots are introduced, like renegade Fed ships and inexperienced officers trapped in another galaxy, but it is presented in the ST format we expect.

What do you mean? I don't want TOS goofiness to continue.
