That rocking pianist was, most likely, David Riddick, a hard-singing tenor (hear his amazing runs on the great Alex Bradford recording of 'Steal Away"). He played on many of the Wards' early Savoy and Exclusive records, and later worked with James Cleveland. Marion Williams used him as her accompanist for one of her tours. They sang duets as well. Wish I'd been there.
