The US, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa all frequently use the term "soccer" when describing football, yet the US is the only one that gets any shit for it. The name soccer was actually created during the 1880's in England as a slang abbreviation for association football by Charles Wreford-Brown
