@renaultbaccara i dont think you know what the hell you're talking about... that started pretty good al things considered, being it was normaly kept in a heated environment, also, the colder it is, the more forged pistons shrink and the lower the compression (in theory, realy they mostly just knock more till warm) and a diesel engine fires off of its compression, the heat helps wonders tho.. and flood a diesel..??? not 4 the lil bit he cranked it.. thats rare on a diesel...

@HKrider218 oops, thought it was gonna be a snowmobile, didn't realize it's a Quad...lol, either way i would rather have a 2 stroke engine.

@HKrider218 if u put in diesel conditioner once in awhile, they'll never gel up and they work to keep the injector pump lubricated....but why would anyone want a diesel in a snowmobile? i'll stick to 2-stroke!

ht tp: //vimeo. co m/27679215 Look at that, you'll be warmer ! ^^ (without space)
You had no experience to start a artcis right in that cold.
You need 4 times to start this thing.
If it is so cold you must crank longer than only 2 seconds.
I had also an old car and if it is so cold you must crank for cyrcles like 10 seconds.
Don`t you have seen that he was sparking at the first try?
If you had use the starter motor longer for 8-12 sec it will start on the first time.
If you crank so short you can flood the engine and than it will never start

@renaultbaccara well, i own several diesels, with both direct injection and prechambers like this ATV.
the direct injection fordson major tractor from 1952 starts after ~10secs of cranking in -20C without any glow plugs, and i know that a diesel should be cranked until it starts as the heat builds up in the cylinders as long as it is cranked, and you should giva half throttle when coldstarting a diesel, pumping the throttle like many do does not make sense, and you cant flood a diesel!
