A former state trooper who last served at the Milton barracks in Northumberland County was sentenced Friday morning for sending nude video of himself to someone he thought was a teenage girl.
Retired trooper Douglas Sversko was nabbed in an internet sex sting and arrested in February at the state police barracks near Milton.
Sversko who is in his 40s, learned his punishment Friday morning in Dauphin County court. When he saw the Newswatch 16 camera he dashed, leading us on a three-block chase.
In September the former state police trooper admitted he sent video of himself dancing in the nude to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl.
It wasn't a girl but an undercover agent with the attorney general's child predator unit.
A judge in Harrisburg sentenced the now-retired trooper from the Lewisburg area to five years probation, and for the next six months he will have to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and remain on house arrest.
In addition, Sversko, who at one time investigated child sex crimes, will have to register as a sexual offender under Megan's Law.
According to officials with the state employee retirement system, the agency is reviewing whether Douglas Sversko will still receive his state pension.
Under the law, his pension would be forfeited if Sversko committed the crime while acting as a state trooper, but he did not.
The crime he admitted to is not on the list of crimes that would lead to a loss of that state pension.

If child sex crimes aren't on the list of crimes that would warrant him loosing his pension, then I'm really curious what crimes are.
