To siangolee: It's perfectly alright for you to reject the messages in this clip as you have the right of opinion. It is short and cannot cover everything. The messages are acknowledged by normal Singaporeans though. But I doubt you can say this is an inaccurate political commentary. Only the most powerful politician in the country can say what is inaccurate or accurate and to write history in a way he wants people to perceive it. For a non-politician like you, it is just a different viewpoint.

Singapore WAS an immigrant society, and has now got its own culture, identity and way of life. The "descendants of immigrants" is an old, irrelevant and moot point that has been misused and overused. If you want to be a stickler and start counting each milestone in history, practically the entire globe is made up of "immigrant countries".

"Immigrants" consists of both immigrants who have taken up PR status, and immigrants who have taken up citizenship. This is different from foreign workers, who are neither PRs nor citizens, but who work here on temporary work permits. So yes, immigrants include both PRs and citizens. Don't even begin to forget that in fact, Singapore is an immigrant society. All of us are descendants of immigrants. It is sad to see the Downfall meme in inaccurate political commentary. Get your definitions right.
