Hooters Swimsuit Pageant Contestants Give Back

While Miss Hooters International marks a week in Miami filled with glamor, it's also a great opportunity for Hooters to do on of its other favorite activists -- giving back. Photo shots may be taking place by the water, but back on land Hooters Girls are donating their time to the community in big ways.
Near and dear to Hooters' heart, the armed forces both overseas and at home have long been worthy recipients of Hooters special brand of generosity. This year, in association with Operation Homefront, the 100 Hooters Girl pageant contestants spent an evening filling care packages to be sent to forces stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In a fun-spirited contest, four teams of Hooters Girls raced to complete packages for 1,000 soldiers. Included in the packages were items such as candy, Hooters Magazines, personal care items, Hooters Hot Sauce and personalized notes of support from the contestants. Within in a matter of minutes the items were sorted and sealed into boxes as the girls raced to be the winning team. It took less than half an hour for all the packages to be completed and ready for shipment.
In addition to supporting the troops, Hooters Girls visited patients at the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital earlier this week. The giving will continue on pageant night with a donation to the Kelly Jo Dowd Fund for breast cancer research. The fund, named in honor of former Hooters Girl Kelly Jo Dowd who lost her battle to breast cancer, has raised millions of dollars to date.
