so Mitt Romney... the question remains- what were you doing being a part of a discriminatory cult/religion if you were so against it in the first place? Also, wouldn't that make you question the legitimacy of your church? I mean come on... it's basic logic.

We’re suppose to believe this guy went against his religion to support civil rights when he’s standing behind religious tradition to oppose gay marriage?
I call BULLSHIT!

@Brainbust100 Okay....fair point.

@OldMotownFan Who ISN'T racist in Kentucky?

It's funny how people forget how the Catholics, protestants,
and all the denominations were much more racist.
The Mormon church opposed slavery. All other churches were divided on that issue.

@ZenLDS Your ignoring the basis of my comments and twisting it to embellish you're own intelligence. Why is it ok to not vote for him because he's a mormon? That is what I'm getting at. America has stood behind Catholic Presidents as well as Black President. Why not a Mormon? Why?

" i pulled over and wept" did you mitt? "but it was wrong for your faith to exclude them for as long as it did?" he refuses to say it was wrong. what a pig!

@vatoslocos321 Basic logic? We're talking about religion here... If people applied basic logic to religion there would be religion.

@grimbasement That isn't true at all. LDS doctrine holds that Columbus was guided by a divine hand towards the discovery of America, as were the Puritans. Read 1 Nephi in the Book of Mormon.

He and his family should have distance himself or disassociated himself from that religion when they had that policy. If it meant that much to him he would have and maybe the religion would have changed way before 1978. All of these republican candidates have these racist baggage. I am praying that God help president Obama to win. I dread the thought of any of them, maybe except for Ron Paul and he stands O chance of getting the nomination, becoming president.

@ApRiL3706 Yes that's true today. It's unfortunate that it was not always true. It started out that way under the prophet Joseph as he ordained men like Elijah Abel and Walker Lewis to the Priesthood but unfortunately Brigham Young stopped it from happening from 1848 forward because he detested interracial marriage between blacks and whites beginning with Walker Lewis' son Enoch who married Mary Webster a white LDS woman.
I wonder if Romney's chuch ever said "God damn America!"

@bloodthirst72 Actually Mormons for decades prayed for he downfall of America and vowed in their temple to do everything they could for retribution toward the government for because of the death of Joseph Smith and being forced to move from their homes. That oath regarding the overthrow of the government was not removed until the 1920s.
