Arizona had 2 great pitchers. Their payroll was 85 million compared to NY's 113 million. That's 35% higher for NY. Imagine you challenge me to race cars. You get 85k to spend, and I get 113k. If we raced against 28 other cars 90 times, who spend between 33 and 80k, I should win 27 times, as the Spankees have.

Hey at least the yankees win with a big payroll. Because the red sox, mets, and cubs have the next 3 biggest payrolls and those teams COMBINED have 4 World series victories since 1918. Pretty sad. And Boston cant even say they have 8 because 6 of those came before 1920, also known as the deadball era.

@BoSoxnation1972 The Diamondbacks were a really good team back in 2001. They has Randy Johnson and Schilling in their prime at the top of the rotation. So who cares if they lost to a really good team.
Also who cares about payroll. The Cubs have one of the highest payrolls and they can't even make the playoffs let alone win a game in the playoffs.

Is that even English, Booster? Boston has won 8 world series, not two.(7 by the Red Sox, and 1 by the Boston Braves) You're the one who needs to learn how to count. Then you can count how the Bruins have more titles than the Rangers or the Islanders, the Patriots have more than the Jets although the Giants are tied, and the Celtics OWN the Knicks, 17-2.
