Bohemian Rhapsody Autotune Karaoke Demo - VoiceLive 2

This is a demo of an idea I had called Autotune Karaoke. It uses a midi file to dictate exactly what notes your voice is autotuned into. This is different from other "autotune" karaoke I've seen where they just set it to the right scale for the song. The method I'm using actually makes it so it's impossible to sing the wrong notes, and also creates live harmonies. It's kinda like auto autotune!

BTW, if I sound kinda lispy it's cause I just got new attachments (bumps on my teeth) for my invisalign. And I'm singing out of tune on purpose. ;)

@reholloway I use a VoiceLive 2 or VoiceLive Touch to do the autotune and harmonies, but it could probably be done with software, if you've got a good computer. I haven't looked at software autotune yet, but I do know that it's usually used in post production, where it may take 5 minutes to process 30 seconds of audio, where in this case it needs to be real-time. On the other hand I have a iMac and do a TON of other real-time audio processing and it works fine with minimal latency.

How do you do to link the MIDI file and Autotune in real time like that? What piece of software do you have? What version of Autotune?

@UncleTony007 Thanks! :) I use a VoiceLive 2 (which I've updated to VoiceLive Touch) for the autotune. I need to look into software autotune, but I'm sure by using hardware it takes a load of my iMac since this is live, not like an post-production effect.

For those curious about doing this yourself; on a PC, you can use FL Studio's Pitcher plugin and control it with MIDI from a MIDI out generator with it's own piano roll, or any live MIDI outputting instrument. Learn more about FL Studio and Pitcher at image-line.co m
