No woman should die giving birth

One in eight Sierra Leonean women die giving birth. Health care facilities are understaffed, lack basic equipment and medicines and are far from people's homes. Pregnant women and their families struggle to afford the costs of getting to a hospital and the costs of the care they would receive there.

It will take time and a lot of outside help to rebuild what was anyway an under-resourced health care system. But reducing maternal mortality is not impossible and should start immediately.

They're poor, struggling to live as is, and they want to bring a baby in on top of all that?

For what? What purpose is there to do this when they are not financially secure? And of course the lack of medical facilities would make me hold off on having a child if I were a woman.

These barbaric men refuse them if the woman hasn't been circumcised because she's 'open' and a 'whore'. Then, on their wedding night they force themselves into a opening the size of a pea. She's torn and bleeding, gets stitched back up only to return the following night cuz he did it again! Think @ it!

"they have the right to good health" what they failed to say is the most of these women die because their genitalia have been cut off and sewn together causing numerous complications...especially in childbirth such as hemorrhaging! Pisses me off.

@BrauneSuga i live in trinidad and there are alot of unwanted pregnancies too..but some people just keep having sex without protection etc, and make babies that they can't afford 2provide for...nobody's perfect, if u want children, then power to you...but don't bring them into the world to suffer..i know people make mistakes and we all have to learn from our mistakes but there are times when u should know better than to get pregnant an give birth to children that u can't properly accommodate for
