This is how we did it! 2011, August 25th, 7.00 am local time, Vilnius (Lithuania) Aerodrome Control Centre recorded air balloon flying at more than 20,000 feet (6,3 km) high, at which coffee was being prepared. It is the first attempt not only in Lithuania, but globally as well.

Black coffee in the air balloon was prepared using "Aeropress" coffee maker. Coffee beans were freshly roasted and grinded on the spot, just before the flight!

Team: Nidas Kiuberis ("Coffee Inn", leading coffee chain in Lithuania), Grazvydas Vilcinskas (coffee roaster "Kavos bankas" ("Coffee Bank") and the pilot, already known record-breaker, owner of "Orobalionai.lt" Ltd ("Air balloons") Vytautas Samarinas.

According to the pilot V. Samarinas coffee in the clouds just might seem idyllic romance, it is rather an extreme challenge. At 20,000 feet high air balloon reaches 60 km/h speed, it becomes impossible to breathe without oxygen delivery device; the body is exposed to decreased air pressure, which is almost twice lower than normally. At such height air temperature is minus 20-25 degrees Celsius, which means that the team experienced at least 40 degrees difference compared to summer weather on land. That's why we had to wear professional, cold protective skiing suits. Specific measures were taken so that the record flight would be safe.
