This is an update for the 2008 film about our model of Thurston station as it would have been in the 1950's. This film focusses on some of the excellent OO rolling stock (scratch built, kit built or weathered/modified RTR) by various Ely & District Model Railway Club Members for this 20ft x 10ft exhibition layout. Shot at the 20011 Model Rail Scotland Exhibition in Glasgow, the film shows some of the typical trains that would have run on this stretch of line. The first minute is just shots getting the team and the layout to Scotland, then different categories of trains are shown and at the end it's some coming home shots and a few out-takes - derailments of course!

Early in 2012 we hope to produce a much more involved film (or films) with a narrative explaining some of the details about the prototypical stock being shown, hopefully with a few supplementary close-up photographs etc. In the meantime this film has been cut to a royalty free/copyright free music backing track.

You can find out a lot more about this model and its prototype, located 4.5 miles east of Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk, by watching the 2008 Thurston OO film, split into two 10 minute sections on the two links below:

You can also find out more about Ely & District Model Railway Club by looking at our website: http://www.elymrc.org.uk/

Enjoy! And if you live in the Ely or surrounding area why not come and find out what we do? More details about finding us on the Club website and don't forget our next Exhibition in Ely on Sat 12th May 2012. We've been doing shows for a third of a Century (feels like it!) but I'm regularly told that they are very good exhibitions by some of the 1000 visitors we typically attract every year - from all over East Anglia and further beyond!
