**VIEWERS DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME**

My sister (18), a trained professional
performs an at home blood draw on me.

She had her nails taken off
and she needed to see if she could
do this just the same so I um,
..took one for the team.

Now I'm amazed because when
I had gone to get blood work done
at an actual office a week before,
the phlebotomist* had to stick me
with the needle 3 times
(the only legal amount of times
a doctor can stick a patient)
before he had to call in another
colleague that stuck me
..another two times.

So yes, that's 5 times i was stuck that day.
and although I do apparently have
"sucky veins"..
it only took my sister one time
to draw my blood.

So watch cause
this. is. how. it's. done.

*phlebotomist:
a trained professional
who specializes in blood drawing.
[my sister made me get technical sorry]

  • @MrLovelynightmare shut up my sister did great!

dont be so negative....if you have nothing nice to say.dont say anything at all

  • @MrLovelynightmare FYI not to be rude but it's a training video.....Saying you have to wash your hands is ok. That's what I had to do in my class is we would just say 'I'm going to wash my hands first' then continue with the steph. She even says that the gloves don't need to be sterile...I should know cause I've been doing this job for over 4 years!!! Just thought I'd clarify for you!

  • THAT was done better than what my nurses did when I had pneumonia!!

  • good job other than the needle being all the way in!

  • dude if your a trained professional then you know that OSHA states you have to always use sterile equipment including your gloves and wash your hands? where is your mayo towel? if your gonna jack all that the smart thing is jack a mayo towel too and that is not a 23 gauge needle its called a butterfly needle 23 would be a large needle im sorry to be rude with this comment but i gotta voice my thoughs

  • ur not suppose to touch the area u already clean.. it gets all infected again when u touch it back.. and the needle its not suppose to be soooo in

  • omg ash u got to make more videos

  • I have been doing labs now for 4mnths and Ive learned a lot...I have NOOOO problem drawing blood now...thanks, I learned that I was advancing the needle too far into the vein or I was going in beside the vein....again Thanks!!!

  • main pointer, listen to the patient. if they know where they have success, go there, no matter where they point you to. just listen. they know which spot works. make they comfortable and you will be too. A lot of phlebs are too wrapped up in themselves to just listen to the patient. Ask them before you tie the turn. do you have a preference for which arm we do, or does it not matter? Also, if you use a butterfly needle, dont be nervous to move it if you feel the vein. when ur gentle, its fine

  • lol, glad i helped.
