The chestplates look like diapers or medical bandages. Dye them black or brown or in a camoflouge pattern. White and yellow are very easy to see. If you want to surprise the pigs you cannot wear white or yellow yourselves or have the dogs wearing those colors. Make the chestplates blend into the environment and offer different colors for different colored dogs. If I had a brown dog I would put brown armor on him and black armor for a black dog.

Velcro seems go for the human for ease of taking it on and off, but is should be shackled or buttoned up.
