I believe the point trying to be underlined is the fact that by saying he is against homosexuals would corrrectly imply that he is not for gay rights or gay marriage, which would clearly and most obviously be unequal. I believe what you are trying to say is that everyone is entitled to their opinions, but oppressing someone because of sexuality, (and even gender) is not equality. You have to be a complete buffoon not to understand that and try to chalk up in the category of free speech.
