We did a trip to see the Namaqualand Flowers. We traveled from Simon's Town past Cape Town all the way to BitterFontein. If it was not for the people and the flowers it would have been a bitter place. We took a drive along dirt roads to Lambertsbay and then to VanRynsDorp. In South Africa this area is also called Namakwaland
Just want to say thank you for this. I'm from Alexander Bay living in New Zealand. My mom and dad still lives in Lutzville. Dad was born in Koekenaap and mom lived in Doring Baai. The picture @ 0:39... The night that place burned down we tried to stop it but due to the lack of equipment we could not stop it.

This vid brought back so many memories for my wife and I. We travelled all the way up the west and north coast spending six months visiting places like Port Nolloth, Steinkopf, Springbok, Nababeep and some other smaller copper mine dorpies, Kamieskroon(best namaqua flowers ever!), Strandfontein (diamond diving), Vanrhynsdorp, Calvinia, ClanWilliam (best english colonial town and rooibos tea), Vredendal, and a host of others. Thanx for the posting!
