On April 27, the state of Iowa began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, following Lambda Legal's victory in Varnum v. Brien.
In a powerful unanimous decision, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that denying marriage to same-sex couples in the state is unconstitutional. Iowa now joins Massachusetts and Connecticut in offering marriage licenses without discrimination based on couples' sexual orientation.
Thank you Iowa, thank you Lambda Legal.
