Atlantis and the STS-135 crew touched down at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida just before dawn on July 21, 2011, wrapping up the final mission of the 30-year space shuttle program.
I worked at JSC for the first 2 missions of this magnifcent craft in Avionics Itnegration laboraratory (Sail) and as an Englishman , I was truly honoured to work with some of the most inspiring people I have ever met in my life.
Sad to see the end of an era. Just before I was born, man first walked on the moon (7/20/69). I wonder if I will see humans walk again on another heavenly body in my lifetime, and if they will be Americans? If all goes as planned I will be 72 when America goes to Mars. Of course, we have been saying Mars is 30 years out ever since I was born. Goodbye to the shuttle program and thanks to everyone at NASA for inspiring a generation!
I was only 1 year old when the first shuttle was launched in 1981. I never thought this day would come. I actually saluted and shed a tear at wheels stop when I watched this live on CNN. I'll always remember the space shuttle program and never forget its legacy.

El fin histórico de una era. Hace menos de un mes estuve visitando el Kennedy Space Center
Opino que en lugar de Space Shuttle lo deberían haber llamado Orbital Shuttle o quizás , Earth Orbital Shuttle.
