An all day steam hauled trip from El Rancho to Guatemala City in Guatemala. The line is operated by the Railway Development Corporation (RDC), and at the time of the visit, they ran one freight train a day from the Atlantic Coast to Guatemala City.

On 4th September 2007, Ferrovías Guatemala ran its last revenue freight train over this line, thus suspending all services. Is this the end for this three-foot-gauge railway?

Part of a short trip to Guatemala in February 2006.

  • Good memories came to my mind, while I was watching this video, you know when I was a kid me and my parents used to make a trip every single Saturday, the time has passed and it only exists on my memory, now I am 34 years old but I still remember those good moments, I am not living in Guatemala any longer. Thanks for brought those memories to my mind again.

  • Congratulation on your videos. The train in Guatemala brings me all those

memories on my childhood and youth. I have some pictures of Izabal

area and what is left of once a great era of trains and banana plantations.

You can see some of those pictures typing in Google Finca Eskimo or

    Finca Chinook.

  • this is cool to refresh everyones memories,,,,well done guys,,,,love this, soy mexicano y me hace sentir bien esto.....

  • This locomotive reminds me of East Broad Top. The whistle tone, bell, chugging, and steam hissing all sound the same. I think I know why; both narrow gunge steam built by Baldwin.

  • Great camera work. Great video. An awesome train. Thanks for this video!!!

  • @thechapin208 - since when is steam pollution?
