Yes it has full manual, and a B setting for long exposures.

is it true that this camera can only hold five minutes of HD video?

5 mins continuous recording in one clip. You can shoot as many clips as the memory card will hold.

I think it's personal preference...you can't go wrong with either Nikon or Canon. Personally I am a Nikon head but I'm really tied of being belittled by Canon shooters thinking they are superior. The camera is a tool-that is all. Just my opinion.

Help I have just dislodged the focus mirror from the camera, and now it is loose,how are these things factory fitted and can I get mine refitted

If you put the camera on a tripod, can the screen still flip so you can see yourself? Or does the tripod block it?
