@abcanz i know right - such a douche

@abcanz There was a clear warning in his handover speech. There were many warnings to the Liman administration about his intention to overthrow the government. Liman and his cronies didnt heed the warnings till he strolled back into power. Limans chief of defence staff urged his soldiers to lay down their arms during the coup de etat.. the same cowardly man became a national security adviser to the Kuffour government after 20 years in exile.

@abcanz lol... if rawlings is a muderer then wht will u call bush. the only punishment for treason is death. period. you would have done the same if u were him.

@nwa242ice u mean to say that its ok to do that? that guy is a murderer and the most annoying thing is that he acts as if ghana belongs to him
@Ghanapedia. Well said. They lack the political and bussiness accumen required to propel Ghana further. Even more dangerously, to maintain our economic position on a global scale as it was before they came back into government. Amongst other issues, our currency continues to fall despite our opportunity to take advantage of Ivory Coast's recent drop in Cocoa production. God help us.

@keepfittildesley - NDC to me are a party that are based on social reform, which is great if you have an economy like that of my native Australia. However, Ghana needs to focus on development, as you need to trade in order to get the money, in order to reform better. NPP relinquished power on the cusp of the GFC, but it would have been interesting to see how they handled it.
Despite this view, I generally vote NDC's Australian equivalent here - Labor........but last election I donkey voted !

two year later he overthrew liman and ruled for 20 years

True, but the only man who didn't seem to see that coming was Limann himself !
Ghana's situation at the end of 1981 was dreadful - the economy was in a freefall, and Limann's administration was hamstrung by factional fighting. Rawlings had even made his discontent known several times before embarking on his second coup.
I have just added to my Limann biography on our website, so if you are interested, have a read of the reference page at ghana-pedia . org

@moorekwesi - Yes, I know......it's been down for some time.
My colleague in Accra has been trying to restore it, as we have changed the look of the site. However, in doing that, he has had problems bringing across the information in the articles to the new format. As recently as yesterday, I spoke to him about the problem, and I am told he is working on a fix, but I don't know what time frame.
