In the spring of 1997, Disneyland featured a new "Street-acular" Light Magic a spectacular Journey which featured river dancing Pixies, Disney Characters, and a magical show for guests to enjoy. However, The parade or street show failed because of a bad reputation and failure to attract guests thus vanishing in

the Disneyland history books forever. Also, that same Summer Disneyland opened a new Daytime parade "The Hercules Victory Parade" which was a daily parade that featured characters and sets from the animated motion picture.

  • Yeah, that's just what I was thinking. Maybe Disney can ditch the Princess Fantasy Faire, turn Fantasyland theatre into an indoor theater like the Hyperion at DCA and do a show like this only it stars Disney characters with the Pixie Hollow fairies (rather than random fairies) and since it wouldn't be a "parade", then they could do A LOT more with the storyline and make it MUCH BETTER than it was back in 1997.

  • Yes. They should keep the same theme music, but integrate the music from the Tinker Bell movies. Also change the name because Light Magic already has a poor reputation. Hopefully it wouldn't be too much overkill with Disney fairies though.

  • Something like this has never been done here at Disneyland, and it would probably never happen again. Unless you would consider Celebrate a Street Party

  • 1997 was the best year to visit Disneyland, Hercules parade was awesome, and Light magic and Fantasimic! We had choices to see 2 night shows Light magic and Fantasmic!. I remembered back in days, Tokyo Disneyland also did Hercules parade. i went to see that one too and compared with one another. I liked Anaheim one was better. Anyways, I had a good memories back in 1997 at Disneyland. Actually I got CD of Light magic and fantasmic and also sound track of Hercules too. influenced me a lot.

  • I rather ride Epcot's latest Journey into your Imagination 5 times in a row then sit thru this show.

  • they spent 20 million dollars on light magic. i hope the reuse those floats/costumes. we won't mind. the effects were really nice :)

  • The Hercules Parade i remember

  • @FFGirl15 I like that idea!

  • Also, the stages were far apart and playing at the same time, if you chose a bad place to sit, you saw nothing whatever!

They released a mess of confetti that got stuck in the landscaping, custodial couldn't keep up with it.

And finally, ppl wanted Main St. Electrical Parade back, and Light Magic just couldn't compete; it was doomed.

But not all was lost, the huge light towers that line the parade route came from Light Magic and are still used. So the legacy of Light Magic, is it's light! :D

  • Sorry to disappoint, but I don't believe Light Magic could make a return. Tke it from someone who actually saw the show. Here's the scoop:

Pixie Hollow didn't exist yet; the pixies weren't recognized as characters, just nameless dancers with wings and masks that scared kids!

The floats were almost identical, there was little to no storyline, the animated screens did not work, it was nothing but music and dancing that repeated over and over and over until you were sick of it! (continued)

  • they can try to do light magic in the future, because of the fairies movie
