NRM Shildon Locomotion Railway Museum(pt11)

In ths shot & one for the modern image fans.Here we see the worlds very 1st tilting train the APT-E. APT-E stood for Advanced Passenger Train-Experimental.It's four units in total.Two Power cars which have Gas Turbine Engines & two coaches.It was built at Derby & also one of the aircraft manufacturers in the UK did the body, so i believe. Again else where on You Tube are videos of this train in action.More videos to follow.

i saw this on the NRM website i love the APT and the DELTIC prototype one how many items are they here at this NRM becuase alogether there are 291

@Whizzer1 There's plans to get the APT-E for it's engines working & doing tilting demos. Be good if it could have a main line cert, think what a trip that would be on it??

@Whizzer1 A check of the steam gen sites, should track down city of Truro. Like both the museums.

@Whizzer1 Scotsman currently over in a East Lancs work shop under going the boiler overhaul.

@SNAKEMAN742 yes there is a NRM but its a smaller one than the york one they have the rocket and the mallard at Shildon but at york in the works place they had the flyingscotsman tender because she is being restored £250,000 for the flyingscotsman to run again.

Really it's two. The APT-e as seen here. & The APT-p at crewe. The APT-p would of run with two power car's. So the power car at shildon i'm not sure which APT-p set it was out of.Still at lest we have both examples still with us.Cheers.
