The descending and ascending pitch squelching sound comes from the VFD drive and the motors on the red/cream "Express train" arriving to/leaving from #2 platform.




The sound from VFD drive is audible on many Tokyo subway trains but some are louder than others. This one was LOUD. I mean really loud. The nasty(but cool at the same time, heh) VFD screech echoed throughout the entire station.




Technical stuff: The lines at this station are 1.5kV DC. As far as I know, that train runs AC 3 phase squirrel cage motors through a VFD drive.

I'm aware the video sucks. This is a just a section cut from a video of a walk through the station.
