On the first Sunday in September for more than 500 years, the Alsace village of Ribeauville has observed Pfifferdaj, the Fete des Menetriers, to honor the wandering musicians who were a chief source of merriment during the Medieval Age. The town's public fountain is filled with the local Riesling and music, dance and good food and drink are enjoyed by all.
