Just a quick upload to show you the two fine lace shawls i am curently working on. Plus a useful tip to help save some pennies!
The wool from France is pure lambswool and although expensive, is not much more expensive when you consider just how much length you get for the weight. But they are doing a kit with the wool, and buying that way will be cheaper than by buying individual hanks.
The lambswool is available from Renaissance Dyeing.
The patterns are available from Heirloom Knitting.
The Shetland supreme (pure undyed lace wool) is available from Jamieson and Smith wool brokers. Shetland isles.
One 250gr cone of single will knit on average, one 6' x 6' shawl, and all for approx £25.
Now where did i leave my needles..............
@bobeileen1, As you know, it keeps me busy and the arthrittus under control, but i do love the old designs. Its just a pity that there are so few youngsters taking up the challenge. They may look complex but they both use basic knitting skills. I have about 950 stitchs on the needles at the moment but my last had nearly 2500!
So yes, it does require patience. Now all i need is to find someone to give the shawls to when finished.....
All the best, Rose.
