Question: "Not trying to be rude, but why is it that all these older guys still try to be Buddy Rich in their solos?" Answer: Because that's the highest any drummer can reach for, and since Buddy's name is not mentioned anywhere in the description of this video, both these amazingly talented "older guys" must have gotten damn close for you to even mention Buddy's name. I'm not too biased - Mike Henry was my teacher - Ed's lesson was after mine - so I used to sit through Ed's too and watch!

have you got any chops from your own?

Two fantastic drum solos. Shows the great contrast between playing match and traditional grips. I play and prefer traditional but this shows that one can play match with as much speed and technique as anyone. Just great for both of you.

Very good from both drummers...but I say.....let me at em!!! Check out my clips on here for some speedy chops. I would love to trade fours with guys like this who can really play. And yes, us old guys try to play like Buddy for one reason: no one really can and we are simply paying tribute. I'll take anything Buddy did over the usual crap that is supposed to be "great" drumming today in the rock scene. No one even knows what to do with a pair of brushes anymore. We need more clips like this!

Not trying to be rude, but why is it that all these older guys still try to be Buddy Rich in their solos? We have seen all of this before. At least show some 4-way coordination and solo over an ostinato like a Samba or a Clave.

Feel free to do that Chad. I prefer to do what I do.
