I do not own Elizabeth: The Golden Age, nor do I have any rights to reproduce it. This is simply a video that I made for a class project. It illustrates the Babington plot as portrayed by the movie. I uploaded it here so I could put it on a group wiki.

  • Elizabeth's reaction to the assasin - one of Kate Blanchet's finest moments.

  • okay smart ass...no one ever said this movie was inacurate. BTw mary stuart would have gotten rid of all the protestants if she came to power...look at wat Mary tudor did...and do some research on mary stuart...she made a mock up of being queen of scotland..hence the reason she ran off to england

  • lol Racism in england but this time be-heading them

  • @clancybkj Treason is defined as the act of plotting to overthrow one's government, to harm or kill its sovereign, or the violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or to one's state.

Queen Mary of Scotland was deemed to be plotting to replace Elizabeth as Queen of England, by means of assassination; hence she was tried for treason. And it's generally accepted that Elizabeth didn't want Mary to be executed, but was given no other choice.

  • Amazing..

  • To this day no one can definitively prove that Mary had any part of the Babington plot. Now people who show Elizabeth's side make her out to be vindictive, while those who support Mary's side see her as an innocent pawn. I like to think all this could have gone on w/o her knowing of it. I mean she was locked away for years, if she wanted Elizabeth dead she could have done it earlier. Also, how can she be tried for treason if she is not even an English subject; she was the Queen of SCOTLAND!!

  • @sykedsusie it infuriates me that it is not included on the sdtk! Love this scene!!!

  • Based on portraits I've seen of Mary Stuart, the actress portraying her actually looks like her a little.
