This was indeed the last episode of the series, although no one realized it at the time; apparently, CBS wanted to "cash in" on syndicated repeats as soon as possible, deciding that four seasons [142 episodes] were enough to make a tidy profit in off-network sales. Silvers protested the network's decision, but couldn't do a thing about it, as they owned the show.
