I am a big fan of the Fred Quimby work as well. Off hand I'd say that Fred Quimby was in the Tex Avery school that is whatever gag you think of that day until you've made 6 mins. While Chuck Jones was more about character development and subtleties. One thing for sure the jerks who make Tom and Jerry today should have an anvil dropped on them. I stomached 3 mins of the Tom and Jerry movie before hitting eject.

Fred Quimby???? The original Tom & Jerry shorts were directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera! Jones' ake at Tom Jerry might not have been the best, but they are a million times better than the Gene Deitch abominations!
