They ARE from out of state. As am I, and I was at the protest last monday. Here's why:
The majority of the electric power in my state (Michigan) comes from coal. Some of us want to make sure that the coal mining we depend on is done in a way that isn't morally reprehensible.
Not to mention plenty of the people making the decisions to destroy the mountains aren't W. Virginians. For that reason, I'd say we have every right to come and have a say.
I think spreading rumors, or uneducated lies about the "damage" MTR causes should be illegal. I have worked at several mines, and have moved a camper right to the bottom of the hill from jobs I've worked at, and have never seen anything negative about it. I will drink the waters right out of every stream coming off a MTR site. Uneducated people talk about sludge, and black water...news flash...those are not any result of MTR in particular. Can't get any "black" water from moving dirt & rock.
I agree with refuse2bAvictim, and mountainjustic. The Manchin Administration needs to have a federal investigation, and OR DEP as an agency needs to be disbanned, beginning first with Mr. Huffman's resignation, or removal. All it takes is a trip to Washington DC, to the US Dept. Of Justice for the whole nation to see. This charade of "all is fine" with our waters in WV has got to stop ! Jobs and money are important, but not to the point of sheer,
Wow!!! I like how all the people chained to the door where all from out of state!!! Imagine that! Bo Webb, Chuck Nelson, and 'ol stubs (Larry Gibson) are at it again, trying to take people's jobs. I live here, there is NOTHING wrong with the water! Mining is done in the legal limits! Hippies go home and leave us alone!
Atleast we're getting rid of one of em, and that's Mr. Webb!
And someone needs to get Chuck Nelson some cocaine, looks like he's starting to shake a bit!
Joe Manchin makes it crystal clear in this video that he has and is actively meddling in the DEP's mission to protect the environment. Joe Manchin should resign with Randy Huffman. It is the only honorable thing left that either of them could do.
No job is a great job when it places peoples lives in danger and destroys our kids right to clean water and clean air. But regardless of that this is about laws and regulations of which the WV DEP is NOT enforcing. If you need have to break the law to have a job, that is not a lawful job, and your trash mouth doesn't make it one.
Buncha hippy morons. You try to stop production of coal and you wont have electricity. How smart are ya?
