M.T. Liggett represents more of the older generation of Kansans who think the current Republican state of American politics is a joke. Kansas was more progressive during his youth and this reflects that. Kansas was always fiscally conservative but it turned socially conservative after the 60's with anti-abortionists, advocates for creatinism in schools...eg. think Phil Kline, Sam Brownback, etc.
