It's really confusing, but Yoshifumi Ushima is supposedly an erroneous reading of Hitofumi Ushima, which is pronunciation for the given/first name (仁文); written after the last name in Asian languages. What I also find weird is that both the traditional and simplified Chinese characters are used for his last name / surname kanji, Ushima. Traditional: 鵜島; simplified: 鹈岛. All over the Internet, they are interchangeable, but only the traditional characters seem to be used in kanji dictionaries.
