WENT TO #36 ON THE BILLBOARD CHARTS IN 1964.
LYRICS: Come on, come on children now. Come on, sing with me
Come on, come on children let's shout until the break of day
Come on, come on children now. Come on, sing with me
Come on, come on children let's sing and shout our blues away

If you're broken hearted and you're burdened down with sorrow
'Cause the world ain't treatin' you right
Well, listen to me brother, if we sing to one another
You'll go home feelin' better tonight

Come on, come on children now. Come on, sing with me
Come on, come on children let's shout until the break of day

Repeat 2nd verse

Come on, come on children now. Come on, sing with me
Come on, come on children let's sing and shout our blues away
Come on, come on children now. Come on, sing with me
Come on, come on children let's sing and shout our blues away Come on...

  • I remember this song quite well. You NEVER hear it on oldies stations. From Tommy's soulful period, which I believe resulted in his best work. Thanks so much for being knowledgeable enough to post it.

  • @speedy45rpm- you are very welcome! Ron

  • Nice one Ron. A belated Happy New Year to you. Jim

  • @James0022ify - and a belated Happy New Year to you too Jim! Ron

  • Everybody was a hit for Tommy Roe & it got to number three on the billboard charts a month after that hit this was recorded in 63 but didn't hit the charts till the spring of 64 which by this time The Beatles were on top of the music world. Still one of my favourite songs of that period and I'm only 39 years old.

  • @mbrand19971 - that's neat that you appreciate this great music from the 60s! Thanks for stopping by! Ron

  • I believe this and Everybody were done at Muscle Shoals, thus the funkier sound. Come On is an early Dan Penn song.

  • Great one, Ron!! It got some air play in our town. Tough competition in 64. I always loved it! Thanks for posting it!

  • @shaneh1983- thanks for stopping by! Ron
