In the 1970s Seroume's village chief Abdoulaye Diack realised that cutting down trees was aggravating desertification in this area of Senegal. So he planted ten mango trees. Only one survives - but it is magnificent. It provides shelter, food, firewood and much needed vegetation. For more info: www.togethertv.org
